5th Street Park Coalition

Generating valid interest in a historic East Village street, as a precedent-setting exemplar—bridging the architectural creativity typically reserved for private development with an initiative intended specifically with an eye to the public and a restricted income population. The 5th Street effort draws from its prewar benchmark row houses, a historic Flemish Revival school building, and the nearby, meticulously recreated 1912 façade of the 9th Police Precinct, all set within a neighborhood long known for progressive housing models. The goal: to create something forward-thinking, replicable, and disruptive to the status quo.
